Homemade Electrolyte Drink

Staying hydrated is necessary for your body to work properly. I recommend drinking about half your weight in ounces daily. Hydrating beverages with electrolytes are important to replace what we use and sweat out. Once we feel thirsty, we are already dehydrated so we have to consciously maintain our hydration.

I do not recommend buying most of the electrolyte drinks on the market. Most are packed for of artificial sweeteners, colors, and preservatives. In truth, most of those drinks are not real food at all.

If purchasing rehydrating liquids is not a good option, what can you do?
Make your own simply and quickly.

Electrolyte Rehydrating Drink

Ingredients:

Lemon or lime juice to taste- freshly squeezed
Honey or maple syrup to taste
Pinch of baking soda
Pinch of unrefined sea salt
Filtered water

Directions:

Pour all ingredients into a clean 32-ounce glass bottle, add enough filtered water to fill the jar.
Cover, shake, and enjoy!

Variations:

1. Make a concentrated herbal tea to use in place of the juice; 1 Tablespoon herb to ½ cup water. Steep covered for 5-15 minutes. Mint (cooling), ginger (warming), and lemonbalm are tasty options. Chill before using.

2. Add 1 Tablespoon of Great Lakes Gelatin Collagen Hydrolysate. Collagen is a protein that helps us maintain the structure of all our tissues. It is found in bone broths and helps rebuild strong digestive barriers.

As always, thank you for reading and sharing this post. If you know someone who can benefit, please pass this information along.
