WHAT DO OTHERS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT DR. ALLEGRA’S RETREATS?
I wasn’t sure what to expect on the self-care retreat. I must admit, I was a bit uncomfortable with the idea. After “showing up “ I found this experience to bring me inner peace and relaxation. Exploring the (past) is not painful and scary. It is difficult to go there, but it is enlightening to allow yourself to listen. I have learned a new way to put myself first and others will benefit from my self-care. I am excited to leave this place, this time in space, and continue my journey called life.
My biggest moment of clarity – I was not doing a good job of loving myself. I learned to check in and feel my emotion and then just imagine myself hugging me. Just sitting with that emotion and holding it, without judging it. Just love it. And you have to show up – self-care cannot happen if you don’t show up.
This retreat has been the perfect break for me to pause from the busyness and stresses of life, to remember what’s most important and learn new tools to take care of myself mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
If I’m taking care of myself, I can take better care of my family and others around me. I’ve learned to be more mindful of my thoughts, feelings, and physical indicators. Reframing exercise was very enlightening and the results were something I can put to use immediately and help me live a more joyful life.
I also learned how to offer more love instead of waiting around for it to be given. To be the kind person that others want to be around. I learned the importance of not only taking time for meditating and pondering, but to schedule it into my day. And to share what I’ve learned with others so we can benefit from each other.
I’m grateful for this experience. And for the reminder of self-care and self-love that at first glance can seem selfish, but in reality makes life more fulfilling, loving, peaceful and calm– which creates a beautiful world to live in both for me and my loved ones.
To be able to share my thoughts and feelings and ask questions in a judgment free environment has been a special gift that I will always treasure.
Thank you, Dr. Allegra – you are a bright light in my life and help me live a better life in many ways.
